Recreation Gymnastics (K+ grade)

Recreation classes are designed to continue to develop the social, emotional and physical skills acquired in the pre-school class through  learning more gymnastics. Children will be exposed to the compulsory skills/routines dictated by the United States Gymnastics Federation (USA gymnastics) as the foundation of these classes.  All apparatus will be used: vault, bars, beam, floor and tumble track. 
Registration Note

Kids will warm up together and then be split up by the coaches into age and ability groups. We do not advertise to the kids which group they are in; these breakdowns are to help parents understand what the coaches are looking for.

K/1st grade (55 min):

Novice: Never taken gymnastics, working on body positions (tuck, straddle, pike), forward/backward rolls, bridges, handstands, cartwheels, pullovers.

Intermediate: Level 2 skills: Familiar with basic terms and skills listed in Novice. Continue to work on skills from Novice, and work on back hip circles on bars, levers on beam, bridge kick overs on floor.

Advanced: Level 3 skills: Have taken at least one year of gymnastics and are familiar with basic terms and skills listed in Novice/Intermediate  classes. Working on back walkovers, round offs, & handstand flat backs.

Girls (2nd-4th grade) 55 min:

Novice: New to gymnastics working on body positions (tuck, straddle, pike), forward/ backwards rolls, bridges, handstands, cartwheels, and pullovers. Gymnasts will start working on Level 2 skills:  back hip circles on bars, levers on beam, bridge kick overs on floor.

Intermediate: Level 3 skills: Have taken at least a year of gymnastics and are familiar with basic terms and skills listed in the Novice classes. Working on back walkovers, round offs, back hip circles & handstand flat backs.

Advanced: Level 4 skills: Working back/front handsprings, handstands/cartwheels on beam, glide kips and front hip circle on bars, handstand flat back on vault table.

Girls (5th grade and older) 1.5  hours:

Novice: New to gymnastics working on body positions (tuck, straddle, pike), forward/ backwards rolls, bridges, handstands, cartwheels, and pullovers. Gymnasts will start working on Level 2 skills:  back hip circles on bars, levers on beam, bridge kick overs on floor.

Intermediate: Level 3 skills: Have taken at least a year of gymnastics and are familiar with basic terms and skills listed in the Novice classes. Working on back walkovers, round offs, back hip circles & handstand flat backs.
